Academic Advising

Advising is a decision-making process in which advisers assist students with establishing their academic and career goals, and guide them through the courses and activities to accomplish those goals. Advising in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering specifically involves three areas:

  • Degree programs
  • Professional development
  • Personal development

Ultimately students are responsible for their plans, goals and accomplishments, especially fulfilling all requirements of the curriculum in which they are enrolled. Each engineering department is responsible for advising the students in their program, so students are assigned a faculty member to be their adviser.
