Engineering License (FE Exam)


STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO BECOME A LICENSED 
ENGINEER.  

Reasons engineers should consider becoming licensed

To become a licensed engineer, you must 1) first pass the 
FE exam, 2) complete four years of progressive and verifiable 
experience gained under the supervision of a licensed 
professional engineer acceptable to your licensing board, 
and 3) pass the PE exam.

Students interested in taking the FE Exam must: 
1) APPLY to the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions (KSBTP) 
2) REGISTER WITH THE National Council of Examiners for Engineering 
and Surveying (NCEES).  KSBTP must first approve applications and 
verify students are juniors or seniors, before a student can 
register with NCEES (see info. below)

Once you receive approval by the Kansas Board, they will assign 
and send you a Kansas ID#, and instructions for NCEES registration.
