An Engineering Equipment Fee was established in the fall of 1991 to help
assure a quality education for engineering students by using the revenue
generated to purchase and maintain equipment for instructional and
research programs in the College of Engineering. At the request of a
considerable majority of the engineering students, a flat fee per session,
rather than a fee per engineering credit hour, was established.
All KSU students who enroll in an engineering course must pay the equipment fee unless they fall into one of the exempt categories listed below. The equipment fee per student per session is as follows:
A refund of the equipment fee will be prorated for students who withdraw from the College of Engineering for the semester in which they withdraw in the same manner as the other university fees when withdrawing from the university (see the KSU Directory of Classes). The amount refunded will be based on the effective date the student withdraws from an engineering curriculum or from KSU. Nonengineering students changing their curriculum to an engineering degree program will be assessed the equipment fee based on the effective date for changing their curriculum. Nonengineering students may enroll in engineering courses only if they are exempt or sign a "Statement of Intent," promising that if they change to an engineering curriculum that they will pay the sum of the equipment fee for each previous session (intersession, summer session, fall and spring semesters) in which they were enrolled in KSU courses that are applicable toward the requirements of the desired engineering degree.
