Races

The two main Races the team participates in are the North American Solar Challenge and the Formula Sun Grand Prix. This year we are also considering attending the World Solar Challenge in Australia.

The North American Solar Challenge takes place every two years in the bright summer months. In July 2005, Paragon will be traversing from Austin, Texas up to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and then over to Calgary, Alberta. This longest solar car race in the world takes place on open roads and highways.

The Formula Sun Grand Prix is in Topeka, Kansas at Heartland Park every year in May. On the odd years when this track race occurs in the same summer as the NASC, Formula Sun is a preliminary scrutineering/qualifier for teams who want to compete in the NASC.

The World Solar Challenge is an event which crosses Australia from north to south. It is held every two years, the same as the NASC, but in September, during the Australian summer. The open roads on this race have some long stretches with no speed limits, making it a very fast race
