| Hazardous Substance
Research Center The Great Plains/Rocky Mountain HSRC is a 14-member consortium established in 1989 to conduct research pertaining to hazardous substances produced through agricultural, forestry, mining, and mineral processing in EPA federal regions 7&8. KSU is the lead institution for the consortium. |
| Institute for Environmental
Research This institute is an interdisciplinary research center for the study of the thermal interaction of people and their surroundings. Research activities include thermal comfort, thermal stress, clothing systems, indoor environmental engineering, and indoor air quality. Facilities include thermal manikins and a variety of environmental chambers. |
| Manufacturing Learning Center The MLC is a product and manufacturing systems design and prototyping center established to assist small and medium sized manufacturers in developing products and production systems for new or existing products utilizing the latest machinery and technologies in their manufacturing operations. |
| National Gas Machinery
Laboratory The primary NGML focus at the present time is its turbocharger test and research facility that can be used for mechanical test runs and complete performance maps of large engine turbochargers. Near future capabilities will be expanded to land based gas turbine engines used in pipeline pumping and similar applications. |
| TRIGA MARK II Reactor The Nuclear Reactor Facility houses the TRIGA Reactor, a neutron activation analysis laboratory, and other supporting laboratories. It serves as an educational facility for students, an irradiation facility for researchers, and a facility for training nuclear reactor operators. Short-duration power pulses to 250 megawatts are possible. |
