Funding Opportunity Resources

Internal Funding Opportunities

University Small Research Grants (USRG) and Faculty Development Awards (FDA)

The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs, or ORSP, supports these two internal programs. Visit the ORSP website for application information and additional information about the programs.

Annual Deadlines

  • Spring: First Monday in March
  • Fall: First Monday in October

The ERGP office provides matching funds (with equivalent one-to-one match from department or faculty member) for USRG up to $750 for untenured faculty and up to $500 for other engineering faculty. Matching funds for FDA applications are no longer available. (Effective July 1, 2016)

Requests for USRG matching must be made five business days in advance of application deadline via email to ergp@k-state.edu for review and approval.

Note: Beginning with the fall 2015 competition, the USRG and FDA application requirements, review criteria and process have significantly changed. The application requires eSign signatures from all matching parties as well as ERGP signature for approval of submission. If the principal investigator has not received approval in advance for ERGP matching, the proposal will not be approved for submission.

Pivot is a funding resource database containing information on worldwide funding opportunities from federal, foundation and association sources. Search tools allow faculty to find funding opportunities via selection of key words. Pivot offers a search feature with which faculty can create a personalized weekly funding bulletin tailored to their particular research area and interests. These bulletins are emailed to the faculty member weekly.

The Pivot Quick Start Guide can be found on the Pivot website.

ERGP offers untenured faculty an introduction to the Pivot system with the goal of creating an initial personalized weekly funding bulletin. Untenured faculty interested in learning more may contact the ERGP Research Administrator.

For a do it yourself guide to set up a Pivot account and create a Pivot funding alert, click here. You may contact the ORSP for more information about this search tool for funding.

The Funding Connection

The Funding Connection is a weekly publication of the ORSP. To be added to the electronic mailing list, send an email message to: listserv@listserv.ksu.edu Leave the subject line blank. In the message area, type: sub fundingbulletin.
