FE Exam and Professional Licensure

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is the engineering profession's highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement and assurance of quality. Just as the CPA defines the accountant, and a law license defines the lawyer, the PE license tells the public that you have mastered the critical elements of your profession. It demonstrates your commitment to the highest standards of engineering practice. It also provides proof of your ability to offer engineering services directly to the public - something only a licensed PE can do. As a licensed PE, many other doors will be open and available to you. Taking and passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is one of the first steps toward PE licensure.

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)

The FE exam is entirely computer based and only available through NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers. K-State has an approved test center located at 2323 Anderson Ave., Suite 102, but applicants must register for the exam via the NCEES website (www.ncees.org). Learn more about the exam, exam registration, content, practice tests and more on the NCEES website.
