During 2011, the Ad Astra Kansas Initiative named 21 active Kansas State University faculty members among the top 150 researchers ever to work in Kansas throughout its 150 years of statehood. Ad Astra is a Hutchinson-based organization that promotes the scientific accomplishments of Kansans.

Meeting the challenge: Students from Manhattan, Wichita win business ethics competition

MANHATTAN -- Finding the ethical solution to a problem is not an easy task, but students at Kansas State University get the chance to practice their analytical thinking and resolve an ethics dilemma in the ConocoPhillips Business Ethics Case Competitions, which are sponsored by the College of Business Administration and the ConocoPhillips Excellence in Business Ethics Initiative.

Saluting excellence: ROTC units honor cadets for outstanding work in the classroom and field

MANHATTAN -- Outstanding academic and military performance has earned several cadets with Kansas State University's Air Force and Army ROTC programs honors.

The students were recognized at a joint awards ceremony Dec. 1 for K-State's Air Force ROTC Detachment 270 and Army ROTC Wildcat Battalion.

Awards presented included:

* American Legion Military Excellence Award, for general military excellence.

MANHATTAN -- Commissioning ceremonies Friday, Dec. 9, at Kansas State University will provide 14 new second lieutenants for the U.S. military. The new officers are also receiving their bachelor's degrees from the university at commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 10.

Mo Hosni Elected Vice-President of ASME's Center for Education

Mo Hosni, MNE professor, has been elected to a three-year term as vice president for the American Society of Mechanical Engineer's Center for Education.
