Pennsylvania private foundation funds research in chemical engineering

II-VI Foundation, Bridgeville, Pa., has made a commitment of $77,900 for one year to the College of Engineering at Kansas State University to fund the II-VI Foundation Fund in Chemical Engineering.

The funds will provide financial assistance to the Department of Chemical Engineering at K-State to support graduate students who are researching crystal growth, under the direction of Professor James H. Edgar. The II-VI Foundation previously established the fund in 2008 with a gift of $50,000 to K-State.

II-VI Foundation is a private foundation that was established in May 2007 to increase the number, experience and direction of the engineering, science and mathematics students who are graduating from universities within the communities surrounding II-VI’s manufacturing facilities located in the United States. Concurrently, the II-VI Foundation is making block-gifts to fund research and development of new technologies at universities and centers of excellence within the United States. K-State is one of only seven universities to receive this distinction in 2008, and one of 14 universities in 2009.
