K-State Alumni establish engineering scholarship
Kevin and Polly Schoen, Independence, Minn., have made a commitment of $25,000 to the College of Engineering at Kansas State University to establish the Kevin and Polly Schoen Engineering Scholarship.
The recipient of this scholarship will be a sophomore, junior or senior student in the College of Engineering. Preference will be given to a Kansas resident from a rural part of the state who has demonstrated leadership in an engineering honor society and who has a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Kevin Schoen is a native of Downs, Kan. He is a 1985 graduate of K-State with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Kevin is vice president of supply chain management at General Mills Inc., Minneapolis. While at K-State, Kevin was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honoraries and worked in the honors research program in the College of Engineering. He was also President of the Theta Xi Fraternity and Inter Fraternity Greek Council and was a member of Chimes, Golden Key and Spurs honor societies.
Polly (Colip) Schoen is a native of Norton, Kan. She is a 1986 graduate of K-State with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications. She has her own college calendar publishing business and does communication consulting. While at K-State, Polly was president of Student-Alumni Board, and a member of Chimes, a junior honorary society. She was a member of the Student Union Governing Board and a staff member of the student newspaper, the Collegian.
The Schoens are members of the KSU Foundation’s Presidents Club, a philanthropic leadership organization for friends and alumni of K-State.
