First Avenue Revitalization Project, a 200-acre industrial park, and areas south and west of 1st Avenue.
The City of Coralville, Iowa, was awarded a Brownfields Pilot Grant in July 1998. The City of Coralville administers and implements the grant, which will identify and assess brownfields properties along 200 acres of the First Avenue corridor area. A concrete mixing operation, a lumber company, railroad storage facilities, an electrical substation, and an old municipal dump now occupy the target area. A variety of mixed-use properties, including residential areas, light industrial businesses, and vacant buildings and land also comprise the area. The city plans to acquire, clean up, and redevelop several of these properties along the industrial corridor in order to attract commercial and retail businesses to the area.

The TAB program helped the city begin their brownfields program by providing general information on the brownfields redevelopment process and focused input on soliciting and evaluating environmental assessments.
